Dr Ruth Mathieson discovered a love of Biblical Studies while undertaking theological study at St Barnabas College in the 1990s prior to ordination, and in recent years has had the opportunity to complete a doctoral focussed on Matthew’s Gospel.  Ruth’s ministry has been in both school and parish settings. She is currently the Parish Priest at St Bede’s, Semaphore and enjoys the challenge of weekly lectionary-based preaching.

Ruth was awarded the Higher Degree by Research Medal at Charles Sturt University in 2019 for her PhD study in the discipline of Biblical Studies titled, ‘Dress Code for Heaven? Exploring the Textures of the Parable of the Royal Wedding Feast (Matt 22:1–14)’.

Ruth is passionate about the study of the gospels and interested in interpretation methods that consider their social, historical, literary, rhetorical, and canonical setting.
